Whatever you are grateful for will grow in your life to create more things to be grateful for.

Gratitude and more importantly, the practice of gratitude is a primary key to becoming truly happy, experiencing enhanced life satisfaction, and overcoming down or bad days. We are much better at looking for what’s wrong, what’s missing and what isn’t working than we are at looking for what’s right, what we have, what good is happening around us. Then we typically begin to criticize, condemn, and complain thereby increasing our unhappiness and dissatisfaction with life, lowering our attitude, and becoming more negative. Most of us are hardwired to have negative awareness built in.

To become happier, we can develop the habits that science has proven to raise our happiness bar. The bottom line is if we are to change our level of happiness and life satisfaction, it is up to us to change the way we think and perceive the world.

To help you become happier download our Stonehouse Resources Attitude of Gratitude Exercises. The key to making these exercises work is to make them habitual ways of thinking and perceiving the
world.

Habit is created more by emotion driving positive brain chemicals than by rote repetition. It is emotion, not repetition that makes anything become a habit or for that matter to break a habit. The positive emotion dumps dopamine into our brains. Our brains like dopamine and will try to repeat the act that did the last dump. Celebrate the actions that you want to become habits and they will.
